LEAVE.

(a) If the initial annual salary of the appointment held exceeds £200 or $1,400 he may be granted full pay leave not exceeding a maximum of six weeks during and in respect of any on numerical year. Such leave may be allowed to accumulate for two years provided that the officer's absence on full pay leave does not exceed a total of three months during and in respect of any two consecutive years. officer will not ordinarily be granted six weeks' full pay leave unless he has served at least nine months nor three months' full pay leave unless he has served at least eighteen months.

(b) If the initial annual salary of the appointment held does not exceed £200 or $1,400 he may not be granted more than one month's full pay leave during and in respect of any one year without the special approval of the Governor, which will only be given in very exceptional circumstances.

(2.) Educational officers of this Class who receive the benefit of school vacations are not ordinarily entitled to full pay leave. They may, however, in special circumstances and with the sanction of the Governor be granted full pay leave not exceeding two weeks in duration in any one year in addition to school vacations.

(8.) The full pay leave of officers of this Class in the Police Force is governed by Police Regulations.

(i) Half Pay Leave.

173. Officers of this Class may also be granted half pay leave on account of resident service, not exceeding four weeks in respect of each year of such service. Such half pay leave may not ordinarily be accumulated, but in any case which appears to the Governor to deserve special consideration the half pay leave to be taken at any one time may be extended, provided that in no case may it exceed a period of six months.

(iii) Casual Leave.

174.-(1) Officers of this Class, other than educational officers who receive the benefit of school vacations or members of the Police Force, may be granted casual leave up to a total of twelve days in respect of and during any numerical year.

(2.) The casual leave of officers of this Class in the Police Force is governed by the Police Regulations.

LEAVE.

E.--Temporary Staff.

175.-(1) Officers on the temporary staff whether on agreement or otherwise are eligible for sick leave and for the casual leave appropriate to permanent officers of their Class but except in the cases specified in the succeeding paragraphs are not eligible for other leave.

(2.) Nursing Sisters on three years' agreement are eligible for G.S. Circ. four months' full pay leave of which not less than two months and 27/29. not more than three months may be taken on the expiration of their agreements and the balance during the currency of their agreements.

(8.) Chinese Medical Officers on probation, Probationer and Staff C.S.O. Nurses, Dispensers and Dressers may be granted by the Director of 8599/09, Medical and Sanitary Services full pay leave not exceeding a total of 28 days in any numerical year.

(4.) In very exceptional circumstances full pay leave may be granted with the approval of the Governor to any temporary officer at the rate appropriate to permanent officers of his class up to a maximum of three months.

(5.) Educational officers on the temporary staff who receive the benefit of school vacations are not ordinarily eligible for other leave. They may however, in special circumstances and with the senction of the Governor, be granted two weeks full pay leave in respect of one year's service accumulable for two years only.

(6.) Officers (other than Nursing Sisters) on three years agreement C.8.0. who, on the expiration of their agreements, leave the service of the 3000/22. Colony are eligible for three months full pay leave and for half pay c.s.o. on the voyage home if in the opinion of the Governor their services 5292/30. have been satisfactory.

(7) Heads of Departments may in their discretion grant leave to a subordinate drawing less than $420 a year if a satisfactory substitute is provided,

(8.) Any full pay leave granted to a temporary officer under paragraphs (2), (3) and (4) of this Order will in the event of the officer being subsequently transferred to the permanent establishment be taken into account in applying the leave rules appropriate to his new status.
